Alright, It's A Rat Castle

my rat cage again!

i have three lady rats living in there and the one you can see is Maybelle.

i replaced four of the plastic pans with 1/4in plexiglass. i plan on getting more for the other two sections when i can afford it. =] i cover them with fleece fabric held on with small binder clips. they do chew on the corners after a while but i just take that as a sigh that it is time to rearrange everything again.
it does take some time to clean but i have so few rats in there that i do not have to deeply clean it too often. when i do, though, i just pull everything out and hose it down and put it back in in a completely different configuration. in between deep cleanings i just do the laundry, empty out litter boxes and rearrange everything. i do that between a week to two weeks and i deep clean around once a month or so.

i got the ferret nation cages off craigslist adds. i think just the cages cost me $320. i bought the hardware cloth and tubes from home depo. i did modify the ferret nation cages by taking off the wire in between the cages(that was a pain!).
